After months of house-hunting, I finally closed on my first home. I got the keys, stood in the empty rooms imagining my future, and started unloading boxes on move-in day.
As I was arranging furniture, I heard the front door open.
A couple walked in—completely shocked to see me there, just as confused as I was seeing them.
Turns out, there had been a clerical mistake. They had also legally purchased the house at the same time. The title company had somehow processed two sales on the same property.
We both owned it… and neither of us could move in until it got sorted in court, leaving all of us stuck in a situation that felt unreal.
