Do not protect the dead by lying for them.

Do not protect the living by shrinking for them.

A company is a promise with payroll.

A family is a promise with truth.

Keep both, or lose both.

I signed it, dated it, and placed it beneath Dad’s letter.

Then I turned off the office light.

Outside, the factory settled into darkness. Not dead. Resting.
