dinner in front of 250 judges, lawyers, and politicians, he raised his glass and declared, “Only the children who made me proud are truly mine.”

The room cheered.

Then he looked straight at me and said with cold disgust, “You were never my daughter. You’re nothing but a worthless, bleeding-heart embarrassment. Get the hell out of my celebration.”
