I grabbed a tissue, reached down, and picked it up.
The truth was almost embarrassing. It wasn’t a bug, a carcass, or anything sinister. It was just an old wad of chewing gum, hardened and deformed by time, dust, and dirt until it became something unrecognizable. All that fear, all that tension, over a forgotten piece of gum.
