🟦 SLIDE 1 | Have You Noticed a Lump on Your Wrist?

🔴 STOP! Don’t squeeze it or try to “pop” it.

A lump on the wrist may be a ganglion cyst, a common benign cyst that develops around joints or tendons.

However, not every wrist lump is a ganglion cyst, which is why getting the correct diagnosis is important.

🟦 SLIDE 2 | What Is a Ganglion Cyst?

A ganglion cyst is a fluid-filled sac containing a thick, jelly-like fluid. It most commonly appears on the back of the wrist.

It may be:

✅ Small or large
✅ Painless
✅ Variable in size
✅ More noticeable with hand movement or activity

In some cases, it may disappear on its own.

🟦 SLIDE 3 | Is a Ganglion Cyst Dangerous? 🤔

Usually, no.

A ganglion cyst is generally:

🟢 Benign
🟢 Non-cancerous
🟢 Not always in need of treatment

However, if it becomes painful, causes numbness or tingling, or affects hand movement, it should be medically evaluated.

🟦 SLIDE 4 | Why Does It Develop?

The exact cause is not always known.

However, ganglion cysts may be associated with:

🔹 Repetitive wrist use
🔹 Repetitive hand movements
🔹 Previous injuries or sprains
🔹 Changes in the tissues surrounding a joint or tendon

⚠️ Having these factors does not necessarily mean that a ganglion cyst will develop.

🟦 SLIDE 5 | The Mistake You Should Avoid 🚫

❌ Don’t hit the cyst.
❌ Don’t squeeze it forcefully.
❌ Don’t try to puncture it with a needle.
❌ Don’t try to drain it at home.

Doing so may cause:

⚠️ Infection
⚠️ Bleeding
⚠️ Nerve or blood vessel injury
⚠️ Damage to surrounding tissues

And the consequences may be worse than the cyst itself.

🟦 SLIDE 6 | Does It Need Surgery?

Not always!

Treatment depends on the symptoms and how much the cyst affects your hand or wrist.

👀 No symptoms:
Observation and monitoring may be all that is needed.

🩹 Mild symptoms:
Reducing wrist strain or using a brace for a limited period, if recommended by a healthcare professional, may help.

💉 Persistent symptoms:
Aspiration (draining the fluid) may be considered in certain cases.

🔪 Selected cases:
Surgical removal may be an option when symptoms persist or the cyst keeps coming back.

🟦 SLIDE 7 | When Should You See a Doctor? 🩺

See a healthcare professional if the lump:

🚩 Grows quickly
🚩 Becomes significantly painful
🚩 Causes numbness or tingling
🚩 Causes weakness in the hand
🚩 Limits wrist or finger movement
🚩 Appears after an injury
🚩 Becomes red or warm

Because not every lump on the wrist is a ganglion cyst.

🟦 SLIDE 8 | THE TAKEAWAY ❤️

Finding a lump on your wrist does not necessarily mean you have a serious tumor.

It may be a common, benign ganglion cyst that does not require any treatment.

But remember:

🛑 Don’t try to drain or pop it yourself.
🩺 Have a new, painful, or changing lump evaluated.
👨‍⚕️ The correct diagnosis helps determine the right treatment.
